About Us
We met each other during Camp Stuy and immediately became close friends. With our experience and passion we hope we can make Stuyvesant High School a place the freshmen are represented in and love.

PILLARS

We believe that pretty much anything is possible, with enough teamwork and determination. And that is exactly what our four pillars center around:

Acceptance:Β Everyone is unique in their own way, and will be accepted and listened to no matter what. We believe that everyone is important and will not leave anyone out. We will make sure that everyone feels supported and accepted into the Stuyvesant community. Without a strong community, our Freshmen student body will have a hard time adjusting to Stuyvesant.

Teamwork: Nothing is possible without teamwork. Even the putting together of this very website that you are viewing right now, the very words you are reading right now, required teamwork. We will work closely with the student body to ensure that everyone's ideas and needs are being met.

Motivation: As long as you are motivated and determined enough, you can doΒ anythingΒ in this world. We are motivated and determined to change Stuyvesant to make it a place which we love and enjoy.

Support:Β Having support is extremely important to a person's wellbeing. We are ready to support all of you in any way you need!

PLATFORM

Our platform is divided into three sections: student life, mental health, and COVID safety.Β

STUDENT LIFE
The current homework policy is excellent, but is it being followed? We will implement a homework form which can allow students to anonymously talk to teachers who are exceeding the limit. There is currently a form for this, but it isn’t anonymous. This may lead to fear for the students because they don't wish to make the teachers upset and get in trouble. The form results will be analyzed by a team put together just for this. The results will either be sent to the teacher, or someone from the Homework Policy Enforcement Team can go and talk with them, especially if they are "reported" multiple times. This is a large issue that is occurring and we're hoping that this solution can make students feel more comfortable with taking action.Β

As a side topic, we would also like to discuss physical versus online textbooks. We believe both should be available as it is a personal preference. Some people work better with one version over the other.Β

Lastly, we are planning to have different events held throughout the year, some throughout the entire school day, so that the Freshmen can enjoy themselves!

MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health issues are something we take very seriously. An important plan of ours is to create a mental wellness form which will be sent out every month. This will give students the opportunity to reach out to experts, talk about what is stressing them out, and discuss ANY issues they may be facing. Someone who's struggling can use the form to set up a meeting with their counselor by putting in their email. Anonymous suggestions can also be submitted. Not everyone wants to talk directly about their issues, so the form can be a place to explain their problems. In return, we will do our best to act on them.Β

We also would like to connect with different organizations to come talk to the Freshmen about these issues to help them cope with all the different problems they are facing.

COVID SAFETY
We know that COVID is making life difficult at school. Getting back into the groove of commuting, sitting at a desk, and having less time are all things we have to get used to once again. A main aspect of the COVID protocol we would like to focus on is the crowded cafeteria. At the moment lots of the student body goes outside for their lunch period, but this may be more of an issue as we progress into the winter months. To spread out the students while eating, we will be asking permission to allow Freshmen to eat on the half floor. A problem with this may be messiness, so this plan is completely reliant on student behavior. We could always remove this function if students take advantage of it, but we think that it would be a smart solution to our current overcrowded cafeteria problem.

Another possible solution is to open up the fifth floor roof to students. As safety is a huge concern here, liability forms can be signed for permission to go on the roof. A higher fence, if possible, can also be installed. This solution will most likely be put into effect later on during the school year, when it starts to get warmer again.Β

*Note: We are willing to talk to the Freshmen and change around and add to our policies depending on the feedback.
